I don't think you are in the minority at all.  As far as I can tell, Email 
messages, like so many other things are in the eye of the beholder.  Some 
people like to have the original message at the top, some don't.  In my pinion, 
when I am reading Email with a PC, I don't mind skipping quickly past the 
original, but when reading with my BrailleNote, I would rather have the new 
information at the top of the message and then scroll down only if I need to 
brush up on the original.
I hope this makes some sense and isn't too confusing.

reason for the comment was that there is no way to tell where one message ends, 
and the other begins.  If I don't recall the previous message, I would rather
