Hi, Linda. I met someone at the CSUN conference last year, who told me
that Stevie Wonder attends every year, just to shop. In the early days,
the installation disk for Window-Eyes started with a few words from Ronnie
Milsap. I can't even imagine walking into a tech exhibit hall, like the
ones at CSUN conferences, with money being of no concern! I'll take three
BrailleNotes, and a Braille-Lite just for those occasions where I require
silent keys! Oh, and throw in one of those detachable things, just so I
can write about it on the list.
Aloha,
Doug

I heard the voice of Anne Sullivan, in a documentary about Hellen Keller.
By the way, although I'm canadian, I, and three other people here have the
Alabama state quarter, with her picture, (Hellen that is), reading
braille, thanks to a member of the American branch of my family.
When Hellen was first asked to promote talking books, she resisted, as
they were of no value to her.
If she were alive today, I hope she would use a braille note!
I wonder if any of the other well known blind folks such as Stevie Wonder,
Tom Sullivan, Ronnie Milsap, or even the guy who was on jeopardy, are
smart enough to recogonize the best technology when they see it! Smile!
Now, I shouldn't get in trouble for being off topic!
As for silent keys, I was at a meetting where someone was using the
braille lite, and I think it hadn't been available very long, and you
could barely hear it.
Using the braille note in public, might be a little louder than a
computer keyboard, maybe even louder than a slate and stylus, but heck, it
sure beats perky!
Back to Ms. Keller, If you go to the afb site, there still seems to be a
lot of stuff there.
As for spoken word recordings, have you ever thought of typing the phraise
into a google search, and see what you come up with?
Re my earlier post on insignifican subject lines, I didn't mean to point
fingers, as I reply to an outdated line as well. I know with me, its
because with so many messages to go through, I don't always listen to the
subject line.
As I said, I think it is just the nature of list traffic as it is done on
all lists.
Linda, who has changed the subject line.
