All I can do is state what has been happening and ask if anyone knows what
to do about it.

1. When I first got my BN it had KeySoft 5.0 and I could synchronize with
Outlook on my PC just fine.
2. I upgraded to KeySoft 5.1 primarily for the new planner and its ability
to sync recurring appointments (especially birthdays and anniversaries) with
those I already had in Outlook. All the outlook appointments came over to
the BN just fine, but the BN appointments made in 5.0 were just a string of
numbers in Outlook until I changed the format in the BN to have a starting
and ending time and to rewrite the appointment title on each.
3. I next noticed that I now had duplicates of many address book names in
the BN. So I went through the address list and deleted them one at a time.
4. I then synchronized with Outlook and the BN told me that each had been
deleted from KeySoft and asked what I wanted to do. In each case I pressed
d to delete and it asked if I was sure. I pressed y in each case. (Note
that this was a very time consuming process to delete nearly 300 names.)
5. I went back in to the BN address list to check that only one copy was
still there and it was. So I went to free database space for the address
list and it freed some 130000 bytes.
6. I also noticed, at this time, that all of the entries I had in Outlook
with Company names, but no last name, were all listed in the BN as having a
last name of "No Name".
7. A few days later, I needed to sync the BN again, as I had had added some
new appointments and contacts and modified some others. Upon completion, I
now found that all those Companies where I had not filled in the person's
name in Outlook but had shown up in the BN as having a last name of "No
Name" now had a last name of "No Name" in Outlook also and were all filed
under that name rather than the Company name. Outlook allows one to choose
how they wish to file a contact. It appears that the BN does not and in
fact files everything alphabetically by last name and then forces Outlook to
follow the choice of the BN, rather than the other way around.
8. Now for the ultimate frustration. I went to sync my BN this morning,
thinking it would go quickly, as I had not changed any contacts, only some
appointments. Wrong. The BN had found that all my "duplicate" files that I
had deleted last week and then freed data space were being deleted from
KeySoft again and wanted to know what I wanted to do. I started to say I
wanted to restore them, but then stopped and cancelled out.
I do not know what to do. If I say restore will I get all the duplicates
back and if I say delete will I delete the only copy from Outlook. What is
happening and how do I get my contacts and the BN address list the way I
want them, not the apparent arbitrary way that the BN wants them? Why is
the BN telling Outlook how to format my contacts?

I apologize for the long post, but I do not know how else to clearly explain
the challenge.
