First, still no luck with that manual. But, as for getting the old one back, guess I kind of took a chance and cheated a bit and it worked. For, I deleted those files out of the manual folder on the Flashdisk, then deleted that manual folder itself and did the c3 c4 reset and my old manual was back in its manual folder on the Keysoft system disk. Guess I was trying to be lazy, as I always have to re-establish my ActiveSync partnership with my PC when I do the 4 5 6 reset. Although, so far, that seems to be all I've have had to do when I have to do the 4 5 6 reset, re-establish that partnership and change my time zone back to where it should be. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Holliman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 31, 2005 5:38 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] New BrailleNote PK Manual Available
Hi Maria, Many thanks for your help, but no good I'm afraid! If I attempt to run either of the executables, I get the message "is not a valid Win32 application"! I've managed at least to get my original manual back on the system by doing a 4-5-6 reset, but I know it's the old one as it still talks about calibrating the battery gauge, and if I look at the new manual on the site, that's all been changed! So I've no clue what's going on and the description on the site is far from clear imho! For one thing, if you were to follow the instructions as given, you'd simply download two zip files, and as far as I knew, these systems don't handle zip files! Makes me real nervous about what might happen when we get real PK upgrades! Yes, unzip both the BNB and UK variation files, and copy the two .exe files you just unzipped to the Manual folder of the Flash Disk, and then perform the C3-C4 Reset. The Reset I just stated is the one listed on the PDI web site. If that still doesn't work, try running the two .exe files through the Utilities Menu>Application Program option; first, run the BNB.exe file, and after you have run that one, run the UK_BNB.exe file. In both cases, leave the "Command Line?" field blank. I'm assuming that the installation prompts will instruct you as to the types of resets you would need to perform during the installation; I would guess that it would be the C3-C4 Reset because that is the one referred to in the manual as a "Standard Reset", and this is the Reset I perform on the BN during installation of programs or when placing new User Guide files in the Manual folder of the Flash Disk.
