Hello again,
I keep my ambicom card in the back slot at all times and never had a
problem. I've been able to shut the velcro case with little difficulty
even though I can't close it as snugly as I did without the card in the
slot. For whatever reason, my adapter doesn't seem to work. Not sure if
it is a pin issue or what it is, I can't make connection using it. The
back slot seems to work the best.

Hi, Jim. I didn't know that. i have always used my ambicom card in my
pcmcia slot. I use an adapter because I feel that using the card in the
back slot, that it wabbles and I could bump it causing problems ti the
slot. I have never had any problems using it in the side slot. Where did
you get your information? Do you get a better signal strength using it in
the back slot?
Thanks.

Hi Reggie,
Do not use the side slot or PCMCIA adapter with your ambicom card. It is
not a good connection for the card. Remember, the card must transmit as
well as receive! It needs a good connection so only put it in the back
slot. My particular PCMCIA adapter doesn't work with my PCMCIA
adapter. Place your ambicom card in the back slot, do a normal reset so
your unit will recognize the card in that slot. Make certain you can
connect onto the web, then try EMAIL. I think your card isn't getting a
good connection with the adapter in side slot or some pins don't
correspond properly.

>Hello everyone:
>I have had my upgrade to 6.11 for 2 weeks, and I am very, very
frustrated. I am running 6.11 on a BT 18 cell. I have read all the
chapters pertaining to email and the internet. We have a cyslink modem
with wireless capabilities. I have the Ambicom card. It has downloaded
some email and I have been to the internet a few times. However, it
will not connect from the room that is right next door to the
router. It connects from our living room fine but if I use it for email
I cannot go then to the web. Standing outside on our back porch it will
not connect. It seems to me that if it connects that it will connect
once to something and then I get cannot find server 10022 or pagerror
cannot find server. I have done numerous resets both with keys held
down and not. I have been in touch with humanware on numerous occasions
and now they will not even talk to me. I just have to leave a message
and then they never call me back. I do have a couple of questions, however.
>1. Does it matter where I place the Ambicom? I have an adaptor or I
can use the back. Humanware felt that possibly it was because I was
used the pcmcia slot so I have not used it since then. However, storage
card or flash what difference does it make?
>2. I have been into the net and gone to the internet menu with enter
and M. I have cleared cookies, history, and, oh yes, I clear database
space all the time. There is only one other thing I can delete and that
is temporary files. However, when I press enter on this option I get
the message "directory is not empty!" AIs my database corrupted or
something? I have the instructions given by Rhonda but since I am not
very computer/braillenote savvy I do not want to do any erasing without
being told exactly what to delete in steps form.
>BTW, I do not have a lot of files on the BN. I have things in my
address list, files for minutes and such that I am secretary for, and a
folder called privacy. This is also the first time I have worked with
email and going on the internet. I have this ocmputer and a card reader
so I didn't need it. However, with the wireless I thought I could
possibly read email before going to sleep or ask for it before leaving
to go somewhere and read it while traveling. However, it is so
intermittent that this is just not feasible. I am really thinking of
asking for my money back! This is getting to me badly. Thanks in
advance for any help. I'm desperate!
