Subject: re: [Braillenote] Deleting all planner items

Your first question: Deleting everything in the planner.

One method is to use the [SPACE with dot 1], [READ with U], and [SPACE
with dot 4], [READ with O], commands to read through the previous and
next entries. On every entry, you would press [BACKSPACE with dots
1-4], [CONTROL with I], to cancel the appointment, press Y for "Yes" to
confirm deletion, and if it was a recurring appointment, press A to
delete all of them (instead of just the one particular appointment you
were currently focussing on).

Alternatively, you could erase all your Planner files, move your old
planner files (those created by earlier versions of KeySoft before 5.1),
and re-install KeySoft 5.1 to create a blank planner. I just tested
this before writing about it, and it worked well on my unit. If you
want to do this:

1) From the Main Menu, press F for File Manager.

2) Press E to select the Erase option.

3) At the "Drive?" prompt, press F to select the Flash Disk.

4) At the "Folder Name" prompt, type KeyPlan.

5) At the "File Name?" prompt, [press SPACE with dots 3-5], [type a star
[*], for the multi-character wild card, which will select all files.

6) After you've pressed ENTER, the BN will tell you that 5 files were
selected, and it will ask you to confirm deletion. Type N for No to
have all 5 of the files deleted.

7) You're now told that "5 files were erased", and you're back at the
File Manager. Press M to select the Move Option.

9) At the "Drive?" prompt, press F to select the Flash Disk.

10) At the "Folder Name" prompt, press [SPACE with T], [CONTROL with T],
to change from Folder List View to Directory Tree View. Type
"/KeyPlan/Old Planner Files" (without the quotes, with the spaces, and
remember the two slashes, which you must use when typing in directories
to separate the "layers"). If you're using a BT, type this in Computer
Braille.

11) At the "File Name" prompt, type the multiple-character wild card
again as stated above, and press ENTER.

12) You will be told that 2 files were selected. Press N for "No" at
the prompt to confirm each one, and you will be told that 2 files were
moved.

13) You're once again at the File Manager. Press F for the Folder
Manager.

14) Press E to select the Erase Folder option.

15) At the "Erase folder from which drive?" prompt, press F to select
the Flash Disk.

16) At the "Folder Name" prompt, change into Directory Tree View as
explained above. Type /KeyPlan/Old Planner Files as explained above,
and press ENTER.

17) You'll be asked to confirm deletion, so press Y to do so, and the
folder should now be erased.

18) Now, you'll be told that "1 folder erased" 0 files erased." Return
to the Main Menu with [SPACE with dots 1-2-3-4-5-6], [MENU KEY].

19) Re-install KeySoft 5.1. After you reset to the version of KeySoft
burned into ROM, you may get a prompt about "Working Language?" Press
ENTER to confirm English, and although it may take a few seconds, you'll
be returned to the Main Menu.

20) After you finish the last reset of installation (a simple Reset with
no keys held down), you'll be asked if you wish to import your "old"
planner files (the ones created by an earlier version of KeySoft).
Press N for "No", and they won't be imported. You'll be returned to the
Main Menu.

21) Your planner is now blank. Note that the first time you enter it,
you will be prompted for the "Working language for planner?" Press ENTER
to confirm English, and you won't be prompted for it again.

Regarding your second question, it's recommended that, if you don't plan
to use the BN for a long period of time, you charge it. This is to
avoid the battery's going flat. Right after the battery has gone flat,
recharging the battery will re-calibrate the batter gauge if that was
your intent. Apparently, after a certain time, the battery goes so flat
that recharging doesn't accurately measure the gauge capacity, so you
will have to run it flat again, and charge immediately after it goes
flat to get an accurate gauge calibration. HTH.
