Terry, you got a disk with the card reader because all card readers come with a software disk; that software is for use with windows 98 and shouldn't need to be installed for your system.
We did install software for the reader that ultimately failed, but then found that that installation had not been necessary, so ignored it. The card reader should work just by plugging it into the usb port on your computer, and then inserting the card; you can remove the card anytime for use in your braillenote. As I recall, your card reader is the F drive on your computer.
