when i insert the ethernet it slots into place but doesnt say even after

Exactly.  All you should have to do is go into the Directory of Services
and 
input your user names and password, POP3 and SMTP information, and tell
the 
BN to use a network connection for the modem.  The manual explains all
this 
much more clearly than I can, look in Appendix D.

Will,

Try pressing the reset button, waiting for the chime, then inserting
your Ethernet card.  It should say "card inserted", and then everything
should work automatically.

i have the socket coommunications, low power ethernet card, and when i
insert it it doesnt say card inserted i guess i hav eto configure the
ethernet card, with the pac mate it was all automated so i though the
braillenote would just find my internet connection regards, will

What seems to be the problem with your Ethernet card?  I use mine all
the time for Email and web browsing, and I don't have to worry at all
about ActiveSync.  I'll help you if I can.

i asked this question but got no response, grins
rather than use my cell phone as a modem to connect to my e mail
provider, can i: 1. connect my pac mate to activesync via infrared 2.
download my e mail that way my ethernet card dont work for some reason i
thought the process would be automatic, i think i got wrong card. it
ashame braille note wasnt usb as not everyone has serial nowadays does
the newer motherboard have usb or something? and how do i know if i have
latest motherboard? thanks, will
