You'll likely get less steam if you raise it since the sensor is only
a couple inches long. If you shorten it too much you'll be rewarded
with wet steam. If you want to increase steam you'll need a new sensor
that is trimmed a bit longer than the current one which will increase
room for steam. If it's too long then there won't be enough water to
create steam.

That is unless you got an abnormally long sensor. How long is it?
