Here is a recent response from WLL on these questions, same as I asked! *** 1) We do sell the bottomless or naked portafilter for the Expobar machines. We have a Pasquini brand triple basket but it does not work properly with the Expobar machines. 2) No. The boiler configuration prevents you from running a normal descaler through the machine. You should avoid hard water and recharge the water softener every 2-3 months. ****
By the time I got the above response I had already ordered the rancilio bottomless PF (come w/ triple basket) from Chris, which I got in just a day or 2 - I am in NY). ChrisCoffee's Rancilio bottomless PF and triple basket work very well in the Brewtus II. I do notice that the screen seems to end up with a lot more grinds on it with this PF (regardless of basket in it), and I do not know why this is. For some reason, regardless of basket, my coffee seems better with this PF, but it could be other variables. I very recently came from silvia as well, and transition is reasonably smooth. But it does take a little getting used to - the on/off switch on the other side, refilling water, etc., but overall technique holds up well. But you don't have to waiit for lights ie. temp surf - a major convenience to the BII. At it's best though I have not yet gotten better coffee than I can with the silvia at it's best. But Brewtus is way more consistent and forgiving. I rarely steam, but that's also a major convenience advantage (double-boiler) with B2. Finally, this group has helped immensely with my transition - thanks to all on the group and welcome to the new owners!
