I'd start by connecting a turkey baster to the input hose, the one 
with the softener attached if you still have that, and gently push 
water at the pump with the brew lever up and see if it starts 
pumping. If it won't pump because there's air in it, that has a good 
chance of clearing it up.

Also check to see if all the water is coming back out the return hose 
which would mean the OPV is stuck open or there is a blockage past the pump.

If it's hot and you open the hot water valve till the autofill kicks 
in and then close it, does the pump stop after a few seconds?  That 
would mean the pump is working and there's probably a blockage in the 
group. Do you have a way to pull the big nut on the group to check 
for scale? I used a 3/4 drive 36MM socket and 18" breaker bar, it was 
a bit of overkill for the amount of force required but with a wrap of 
tape it fit perfect and didn't leave a mark. I think it's the socket 
used for pulling the rear axle nut from Volkswagens Beetles and 356 
Porsches. Dad drove old Porsches so I have that socket.
