Ira,

Thanks for the suggestions -- I'll try the turkey baster. I disconnected
a few hoses to try and get an idea of where the problem would be, and it
appears to be in the pump. Here's why:

- When I empty the steam tank, the pump starts and won't shut off.
- When I disconnect the output hose (the hard one after the return
valve), nothing comes out when the pump is on (so no obstruction higher
up).
- Nothing comes out of the return hose either.
- During my testing, I re-aligned the pump and it started working for a
few minutes, then wouldn't work anymore. When the pump (and machine) is
cold, it seems to work better. From past experience with other pumps,
cavitation happens easier with hot water.
- When the pump works, it can't hold a steady pressure -- it's a little
like a machine gun, hoping between 10-11 bar.

Any chance there could be a scale build-up in the pump? Can it be taken
apart, or (if it's not cavitation) does it need to be replaced?

Thanks!
