Ben I am on Oahu. Any chance you might be getting over here. Would love to
have you over and pull some shots for you. You really need to taste my home
roast.

Cheers to that—glad the machine is back up! I've had to do some Aero Press
lately also, and it just ain't the same (though it's a good cup of drip). Off
to Maui Friday to escape the Seattle mid-winter blues. Someone's got to drink
mai tais on the beach, and it may as well be me...

Where in the world are you, anyway?

Things here are great now that my B1 is back up and running. Had 3 weeks
down time. Moka pot coffee just did not compare to my espresso. WLL thought it
was my controller that went out. It turned out to be a short in the temperature
sensor wire. Back up and running and enjoying the best espresso west of the
North West

Barry's comments below pretty much take care of my comment in my other
response on this topic on needing more water to flush out all the citric.
Thanks Barry! How's it going mate?

I descale twice a year and have been doing it with my B1 for 3 or 4 years
now with no problem. I wrote up my procedure and it should be in the archives.
The only change I have made is when I rinse the sour salt (Citric Acid) out.
Now I drain the steam boiler three times ( 1 tank of water). then concentrate
on the brew boiler. I put through 3 tanks of water through the brew boiler. I
drain for 1 and a half minutes then let the pump rest a few minutes and
continue for three tanks full

        Hi,

I've been searching the posts to find good and valuable information
about descaling the Brewtus. I found a lot of things but it seems
there is no consensus yet on the subject. Is it that risky to descale?
What is the best procedure? Can the pump hold the job on a regular
basis? How many of you guys are doing it?

I don't know anything about the specs of the tap water I fill my
machine with every day. I wish I could just descale without wondering
about doing it the right way. And avoid the whole "water-filtering-
        recharging-testing-worriying" cycle.

I beleive that descaling is a necessary procedure when it comes to
keep the machine healthy for a long time, and especially for the
taste! I understand as well that the Brewtus is a case of exception
because of the two boilers and it's tricky.

And as the operation is not recommended by the company, I'm just
conscious about the procedure itself, could we build a document about
it? That would help a lot of users like me.

If you descale your B on a regular basis, and succesfully, It would be
        great to hear your succes-stories!
Or put the links to the posts about it (maybe I missed some of these)

The expobar service (and speciality coffee machines in general) is
close to nonexistent in Quebec, so this group is a great source of
        knowledge for me.

        Thanks,

        Benoit
