If you have it on so tight that pliers didn't work, the question might be, what did you use to put it ON? I personally never use anything stronger than my fingers. I used a small Y-wrench on my Siliva steam tip when I first had it, and quickly split the end of the rod. Since then, finger tight only. Aides with removal also. You might just need a new tip at this point too, and be more careful next time! -Ray
