That used Mazzer in good condition is worth a few hundred bucks so you'd still be getting a fair deal at $1600 for the whole enchilada. If you get it all for $1000, the seller got robbed. I never had a single prob w/ my BII in almost three years of regular use. As Ren sez, the nature of this mail group might lead to a perception of reliability problems. Reality is that BII is a low- volume production, high performance machine (the Ferrari of espresso?) so there are bound to be a few problems in the overall population and over time, WLL/Expobar have made changes to address the weaknesses. Following this group for the last few years, the vast majority of problems seem to be with the vibratory pump followed by miscellaneous electrical issues (power switch, wiring). If your seller has been using the machine lightly for the last three years, the vibratory pump made it past "infant mortality" and probably has a few more years before it reaches "wear out". Having heard of the power switch problem here, I adopted the recommendation to use a wall timer as my power switch to minimize wear. TedO
