Hello Javajo, What does the steam pressure gauge read when it "backfires"? If it is getting up to around 1.5 it is probably the pressure relief valve opening up and if so then yes the steam pressure should be reduced. You did adjust the right control, that is pressure controller for the steam boiler. Turn in counter clockwise when looking down on it to reduce the pressure. T They are a very easy part to replace so if you want to let me know and I'll forward your e mail to our tech guy who can get one sent right out. If you want to talk please forward me your phone number. I can help get this taken care of right away. Thanks

--- Begin Message ---I have a Bretus II that is approximately 2 years old and always worked great until last Friday when my baby started back-firing. It makes an extremely loud "POP" noise and little wisps of steam float up from the back of the machine. I turned it off immediately. Normally, I keep my machine on 24/7. I called Whole Latte Love, which is the company I purchased the machine from. They advised me to adjust the pressure valve inside the machine by turning it a quarter turn counter-clockwise. I thought, "well, I work on my '66 Mustang, I should be able to do this!" I got the machine open and found this black toothed wheel, which I assumed was the pressure valve. I gave it a quarter turn as advised and closed the machine back up again. It seemed to have solved my back- firing problem but about 6 hours later, the machine started back- firing again. Questions: Did I adjust the correct machine part? Has anybody else had this problem and is it common with the Brewtus II? Should I be turning off the machine at night instead of leaving it on 24/7? Thank you very much for any help you might provide.
