Hi Todd! The pressure gauge is reading above 2.5 when it makes the popping sound.

Hey JavaJo, Lets not adjust anything until we see what the gauge is saying and only adjust it if the pressure is above 1.3. When you do the adjustments I would for safety reasons say to do it while the machine is off and is NOT plugged in. It is OK if the machine is hot as along as you fee comfortable around hot things. FYI: The round light on the panel is one when the steam boiler heating element is energized. I look forward to hearing more about when the POP sounds happens. From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hi Todd! I didn't look at the pressure gauge at the time it started backfiring. I simply turned the machine off because it was LOUD and it freaked me out. I will be sure to read the gauge the next time this happens tomorrow. I will try another quarter turn of the valve tomorrow after I read the gauge. Do I attempt the adjustment while the machine is still on or should I wait until it's cooled down and I unplug it? (When I tried the adjustment earlier today, I let the machine cool down and unplugged it before removing the metal surround so I could get to the pressure valve. It still started backfiring about six hours later so I guess I need to try another quarter turn?) Thank you so much for your help, Todd. I will forward my phone number to you at Wholelattelove.com. It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that zing!
