Just a correction on your typo, it's the Green Coffee Buying Club (GCBC).
I'm not here to knock Burman's, what I can say though is that GCBC gets excellent beans (high scored, COE's and directs) at prices that are hard to beat, all based on a cooperative passionate hobbyist home roaster distribution model. I've been a member of, and bought from GCBC for approx 3yrs now and I don't buy from anywhere else. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Shaun Taylor http://shaundoreenevankeegan.blogspot.com/ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of JimR Sent: 13 July 2009 07:04 To: Brewtus Subject: Re: DO ANY OF YOU ROAST YOUR OWN BEANS? Yo Jo, I've been using the Genie for 3-4 years, but I recommend the Behmor. I've had a couple friends get one and they love it. I'm going to sell my Genie on ebay and get one myself. The Behmor is only $300 and you can roast up to a full pound. It is also fully programmable. My buddies are getting fantastic results with just the standard programs included, but you can also create custom programs. All for $300. Amazing. I had been getting my beens from Greenbeansdirect.com but I'm not that impressed after I sampled some of the roasted stuff from my buddy that got them from Burman's. I've purchased roasted beans from Burman's and it was very good. I'm going to start trying them for green. I hadn't heard about the Green Bean buying club. I'll check them out. As for the cost vs. the trouble, the big thing for me is fresh beans. The difference in taste is so extreme that you can't compare. Even the best roasters out there sometimes take a little too long to ship out and I can tell the difference after just a week after arrival. The whole roasting thing (after you get it down) only takes about a half hour from start to clean-up finished. And in the middle you can do other stuff. Good luck. This is your next step in the seduction... JimR On Jul 12, 3:55 pm, JavaJo <[email protected]> wrote: > I was wondering if any of you roast your own espresso beans? If you > do: > > 1.
