Hello, The display shows E1 when the boiler overheats. It is usually a sensor or digital control failure. But if you leave the lever in the middle position and water leaks out of the brew group you will lower the water level in the brew boiler and this could also cause the problem. Please turn off the machine and let it cool down. Then turn it on and raise the brew lever and run 6 ounces of water through the brew group. Then let it heat up and if it works great. If not let me know. Thanks
