I measured the consumption, and enery-wise heating up from room temperature uses about the same amount of electrical energy as 4 hours of stand by on my BIII. So, if you are not planning to pull a shot within next 5 hours, shut the poor thing down, save some energy and possibly prolong life expectancy of the components.
