I've never owned a lever though I have drank retail espresso from
levers. They are a device I've been keeping my eye on for a while now
and only recently started to feel like I was ready to tumble down that
hole.

I'm not sure I can fully articulate why I'm going to the lever side,
the entire story would be part science, part art and part philosophy
and it would last for several pages. I'll give it a lame effort but it
may create more confusion and head scratching than an actual
answer. ;-)

My view of espresso isn't simply the perfect extraction of coffee, I
chased that for a few year and like to think I got reasonably good at
it. Not perfect but pretty good. After countless high quality shots
and small milk I eventually started to shift my precise focus of
'perfection', it wasn't a conscious re-targeting, it was more of an
unconscious drift that led me towards a more intuitive interaction
with espresso. When I finally recognized that I was focused more on
the 'soul' of espresso rather than the 'surgery' of espresso I knew
the winds of change were starting to form.

At the time I had no idea where I would end up but it wasn't a
concern, I just kept doing what I did, day in and day out. The Brewtus
let me go in the direction I wanted to and I didn't feel constrained
in any way. One day I found myself bumping into comments about levers
and I fell down the research rabbit hole for a few days. Certain
things resonated with me and as I leaned back in my chair, closed my
eyes and folded my hands behind the back of my head I knew the time
for a change was upon me.

I realize I haven't given you the top 10 reasons why I feel a lever is
right for me. I haven't formed a list (though I could if I spent more
time on the subject). It's important everyone understands I'm not
suggesting there are a pile of reasons that the lever will be superior
to my current Brewtus, it's simply a case of it's time for me to shift
over to lever, someday I may be back to vibe or rotary or... who knows
what.

Hope that provides you some food for thought? I did my best. ;-)
