By way of introduction, I am an American who has lived in Shanghai for
the last seven years. I recently bought a Expobar Office Leva Dual
Boiler Machine from the local distributor in Shanghai for use in my
home here . Expobar has a factory in Shanghai, Pudong New Area,
Nanhui town where they build some of the models they sell in other
parts of the world. From talking to the factory, Expobar continues to
build machines in Europe and is expanding production in China. This
Office Dual Boiler Leva is basically the same as the Brewtus III-R
sold in the U.S. The factory even uses the documentation from Whole
Latte Love to describe the machine in English and it has been
translated to Chinese.

I love the machine, in some ways I love it more than the Synesso I
have back in the States. For low volume it is wonderfully easy to use
and steaming small quantities of milk is also very easy. Now, if I
could only source good coffee beans in Shanghai life would be great.

Since I can't seem to leave well enough alone, I would like to replace
the Gicar PID with a Fuji PXR3 and was wondering if anyone has tried
making this change. The Gicar PID on the machine is only two digits
and reads only in Celsius. I would like more precise temperature
control and an easier to use PID plus the ability to switch between
Fahrenheit and Celsius. The Fuji (and some of the Asia only Omron
PIDs) fit my requirements. The Fuji would also fit in the current
Gicar location with only slight mechanical mods. The Fuji will also
run on 220V at very low power so wiring from the mains should be easy.

Before I pull the temperature-sensor from the thermowell does anyone
know if the device in the thermowell is a thermocouple or a PT100
RTD? If it is a thermocouple does anyone know what type of
thermocouple it is? Does anyone have a schematic or other
documentation for the Gicar PID, code 9.3.00.41G?

Thanks to everyone in advance for any help or advice you might have
for me.

Bob
