Short for sure, but interesting that it is not immediate, so must relate to
heating somehow.  The outlet is OK, so problem is internal, just looking for
likely causes to examine or eliminate in the absence of visual clues.

I'd guess you have a short to ground somewhere--look for frayed and/or loose
wiring. Ira will probably have better details. 

Sometimes GFI outlets just get weak and trip easily when loaded or even
bumped, so maybe try another gfi to eliminate that too.
