John, those are good numbers. it seems our US 110v 15 amp models really
sacrifice the power. IIRC the internal wiring , power switch, and power
cord must be upgraded in size to even run both boilers at once, and that
is with 900 watt elements . (re: Sean Lennon) it is cool yours can
be turned into such a powerhouse. now you will have to worry about
blowing the milk out of the cup!! - Dennis

Hi Guys
Just thought I would give some feedback on the 220v 2000watt steam
boiler upgrade I had done on my Brewtus IV-R a few months ago. Was a
straight element swop out as all the wiring seems to be fine for the
added current, was intere4sted to fdind out that all the OZ versions
seems to come with 2000watt elements as standard, mine game with a
1200watt element, obviously EU spec or something like that.
When I had the 1200watt element installed I always felt that I could
do with a bit more steam power, pressure used to drop from 1.4bar down
as far as 0.5 bar when steaming the milk and whilst it worked I always
felt a bit jealous, especially when I was loaned a GS3 whilst my
machine was getting a service (an evil plan by my machine retailer). I
had a single hole tip installed so I could get better results with my
steamed milk, this resulted in very slow steaming and slowed the whole
process down when making capuchino's.
I would like to say that since I have had the 2000watt element
installed the steam power has been awesome. I have changed my steam
tip from a single hole to a 4-hole tip which steams a 250ml milk jug
to 65C in 18 seconds so the speed is MUCH better. single hole used to
take around 45 seconds. Pressure is also greatly improved, I start
steaming at 1.4bar and the poressure stays there unless the boiler has
to fill at which point it will drop down to around 1.2 bar and then
moves up to 1.4 bar again. I no longer lust after the GS3 (ok, perhaps
still just a little bit :-) ) but am much happier with my steaming
results and my latte art has improved a lot since the change.
