Late reply but my 3 year old Brewtus III was doing the exact same thing. I drained the tanks a fair bit in the process of fully unscrewing the OPV adjustment and removing the spring to check the rubber seating and looking for any accumulation or debris. Nothing found, so I put it back together. The pump ran for almost a full water reservoir's worth re-filling the boilers. It sounded normal. I put the backflush blind in to set the pressure via the OPV. But I never got that far. With the lever fully up, the motor just quietly hummed without building any pressure. It's like filling the boilers was it's last gasp.
O picked up an Ulka EAX5 locally and would have picked up an OPV as well but they were out of stock. So I started with the pump. Not trivial, but simple enough. Not a hiccup now. Behaves as it should. So there's my anecdotal evidence, that the behavior can be explained by the pump alone, without involving the OPV.
