Hi guys, I recently bought a Brewtus I project, which I suspected needed a new temperature probe (I already had a spare). After replacing that, the machine would flip the breaker at a certain point during the steam boiler warm up. I ended up following directions I found on here for reversing pressurestat wires to heat the brew boiler first, which actually worked. But the boiler would heat beyond the setting until I saw - -. Fast forward a month, and I've replaced the element and warmed it up, only to find that now the steam pipe is leaking from a tiny crack just inside the machine. Gah. Attempted JB weld on that, today I warmed it up and found it leaking a tiny bit from the side of the JB weld, just put some cloth in there to catch the steam while I tested the rest of the warmup. Machine warms up a few degrees beyond what I set. So when it was at 95, it would go as high as 97 or 98, but sometimes idle back down to the normal temp. Lowered the temp to 92 for a darker roast, and the temperature sometimes remained stable, sometimes wanted to stay at 95. Pulled a shot, temp remained at 95, then dropped to 94 after I stopped the pump.
Could this be related to my changing of the pressurestat wire configuration? WLL techs suspected the whole thermostat/display was failing. What do you guys think? Does anyone have a spare since upgrading to PID? Are they available in Canada where I ordered the probe? Anyone have a spare steam pipe? Pardon my caffeinated ramblings, this first drink turned out tasty! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
