Hey winnipegger, There are at least three different thicknesses--8, 8.5 and 9mm. I have used them all, usually 8.5 works best for my machine (I use a rancilio bottomless PF, not the stock one; the stock one goes just a touch farther than the rancilio, but not enough to make much difference). Chriscoffee.com carries all of them. I currently have a few 8mm ones because I misordered, but the work ok--I can get a good seal and would really have to yard on the handle to get the pf to rotate too far and pop loose. The 9mm ones can be tricky, i.e. PF not locking into the "ears" very well and always feels somewhat sketchy.
