When I removed my elements, I had a vice, but it was pretty scary the
amount of torque it took. One thing that I have purchased that probably
would make the whole thing easier now is a radiant wire heater (Bolt
Buster). I got it originally for taking out exhaust manifold bolts out of
my aluminum block Range Rover engine, but I have expanded it's use to
ANYTHING that has corroded connections - what a time saver..... Something
to consider if you do any other automotive work, or maintenance on bolts of
any kind...........
