Hmmm. libbridge may work in a pinch, but we are programming in Java and would need to use JINI to do such a thing. The nice thing about kernel /proc interfaces is that they're just regular files and very easy to manipulate in Java.

Maybe you should write a libbridge wrapper or something like this that communicate with you java application using XML. Should not be so hard :)
