I'm amazed at the efforts to explain away the total absence of gays and
lesbians in the Star Trek universe.
When there has not been a single gay or lesbian character in more than 40
main characters spread out over four casts, hundreds of guest stars and
thousands of extras ... the explanation is that, by pure, random chance we
are just accidentally always seeing the other 90% of the population?
You don't find it strange that in more than 25 years of Star Trek, despite
having encountered dozens -- if not scores -- of new civilizations, and
having taken part in adventures spanning entire galaxies, no Star Trek crew
has ever encountered even one gay or lesbian person of any race?
I'm sorry, but this strains credibility, as do the arguments trying to excuse
it.
