I think that the flying suit is off-base. Such a thing would not be tested
in a room, even a small warehouse, but would be done outside. .
My guess is that it is a modification on the "Hoverboards" seen in the
movie "Back to the Future Part II." IIRC, the Hoverboards were actual
working models, that were banned because of safety concerns, that the movie
types managed to get their hands on it. At the time, I heard that there
were plans to debut a mass-market version in the early 2000's.
The only thing that does not add up about my theory is the culture-changing
aspects.
