So, John, what if such a group of people had chosen Ralph Nader,
or, I dunno, the leader of the Communist Party USA? Would you
still advocate that they would make the best possible decision
for the U.S.? Would YOU stand behind and support such a person,
even if they chose someone whom you would consider to be the
worst possible choice for president? Any decisions made by this
group would face serious problems getting anyone accepted.
Where would you find such a group of people, anyway? How would
we come up with a single group of people who accurately represent
ALL of the interests and concerns in all of the correct percentages
of the entire population of the U.S. without having to use the
actual entire population of the U.S. Keep in mind, that any
attempt to measure the country's interests would inevitably be
biased in some way.
Even if you were able to get a truly representative group of people,
whom the entire population trusts to make a wise choice, you would
still have to worry about underhanded dealings, such as bribes,
political promises, influence, etc. Sure they may be illegal, but
politicians have proved time and again that they're willing to
find ways around that. ;-)
Most people agree that the system needs reform, but this would be
one of the WORST ways to reform it.
