>I And ironically, a great portion of those who own SUVs, in this area
at least, don't seem to be transporting children anywhere.
There are few funnier sights than watching a clearly wealthy woman in her
late 30's/early 40's (and not a child seat to be seen), with perfectly
coiffed hair and manicured nails, try and parallel park a monstrous Lincoln
Navigator in downtown Princeton.
I had a similar experience yesterday at a garage near my job on the upper east side of
Manhattan. Very toney part of town (Sutton Terrace). Lots of fancy cars in the garage.
While I'm waiting for my Volvo to be brought up a very fancy SUV pulls in to the
garage. Out steps a woman of about 60; full mink coat; designer shoes; nail hair make
up the whole works. It looked so incongruous. Had she stepped out of a Rolls a big
Mercedes or a Town Car (too conservative for a stretch) it would have looked right.
Where was she coming from? Betty Buckly's roof raising?
