Poor peoples homes are burglarized about as often as anyone elses.

I could quibble, but mostly I agree with you here.

I disagree here. Most serial killers do not get caught. Many of their crimes
are not recognised as serial crimes and the extra force needed to catch
these predators never comes to bear.
Zodiac was never caught.
The Green River killer was never caught.
Dean Corril was never caught and the truth about him is known because he was
killed by Elmer Wayne Henley.
Which brings us to........

Once upon a time in Pasadena, a smelly industrial bedroom community outside
Houston, there lived an evil man named Dean Corril.
Dean Corril liked to have fun.
He liked to have a lot of fun.
He is known to have had fun at least 25 times that we know of for sure.
He was a real party animal that Dean.
Dean had two friends.....uh accomplices.......uh henchmen......uh
apprentices. (Relationships can be so hard to define sometimes.)
Mostly they were procurers.
Their names were Elmer Wayne Henley and David Owen Brooks.
Elmer and David would find a young boy aged nine to sixteen and invite him
to a party at Deans house.
Dean liked to party hard.
He had a piece of thick plywood with handcuffs for both hands and feet in
his party room.
Dean had a boathouse where he would bury what was left after one of his
parties.
When the boathouse was full, Dean found a secluded beach where he could bury
momentos of his parties.
Dean didnt party with guns even though he owned one.
Dean was more of a hands-on kind of guy if you get my drift.
Your friend Rob (thats me) was at a public pool one day.
Your friend Rob's friend James was there too.
James was very excited.
James wanted your friend Rob to sneak out in your friend Rob's dad's truck
in order to go to a party.
Your friend Rob wanted to know "whose party?"
Your friend Rob's friend James pointed out two guys.
Your friend Rob had serious doubts.
Your friend Rob did not know these guys.
But your friend Rob did know that his parents were strict and vigilant, and
the likelyhood of your friend Rob getting caught was high, and punishments
were strict as well.
Your friend Rob did not know it at the time, but the guys were Elmer Wayne
Henley and David Owen Brooks.
Your friend Rob was respectful of his parents ire and did not go to the
party.
Your friend Rob went about his business and forgot the incident for a very
long time.
Your friend Rob is very sure his friend James was buried on a lonely beach
that very weekend.
Elmer Wayne Henley brought another young boy to Dean Corrills house.
Elmer also brought a girlfriend with him.
Dean was very excited.
Dean drugged the boy and the girlfriend.
A glimmer of a conscience grew in Elmer Wayne Henleys mind.
He tried to talk Dean out of having a party.
Dean pulled a gun on Elmer and handcuffed Elmer to the plywood party board.
Elmer pleaded for his life and promised to help Dean...... uh party with the
boy and girlfriend.
Dean thought this was a good idea.
Dean put down the gun and released Elmer.
While Dean was getting ready to .... party, Elmer grabbed the gun and shot
Dean Corrill.
Elmer Wayne Henley decided he liked talking.
Elmer talked alot in the next few weeks.
He talked to the police.
He talked to reporters.
He talked to his mother.
He talked to everyone he could.
But there is something.
It is very unfunny.
The police had no idea.
They didnt know about Dean Corrill.
They didnt know there was a serial killer.
They thought all those missing boys were runaways.
Your friend Rob thinks that says a lot about milk cartons.
Your friend Rob didnt see his friend James on a milk carton.
Your friend Rob saw him on the front page of the newspaper.
Your friend Rob feels a strange kind of guilt when he thinks of James.
And even though James was not a close friend, your friend Rob has never
forgotten his face.
xponent

(Sometime I will tell you the story of the time I told a cold blooded
murderer I was going to kick his ass. True story.)
