While I agree on the rudeness, I'd advise caution about "getting-even"
tactics. The suggestions on the page Chad posted the URL for are overkill
for the given situation, in my opinion.
What I'd do if it were my neighbor being so unneighborly would be to get a
picnic table and/or outdoor lounge chair, put them *close* to the property
line (but at least a meter or so away) and just spend time engaged in
reasonable pursuits around there. No boom-boxes with heavy metal cranked
up, but maybe a boom box with something a little more gentle at a lower
volume. Taking a small cooler of beer or other drinks out there and
reading for a couple of hours in nice weather would be along the lines I'm
thinking. (But be sure to take appropriate measures against UV sunlight.)
If she complains about any of *that*, and drags the police into it, file
counter-charges of harassment, if you deem it's appropriate. If she
complains to you directly, nicely tell her it's your property and you're
not doing anything illegal. If there is further action which you might
construe as harassment, kindly and gently inform her that she's
interfering with your enjoyment of your property; many places have laws
such that you could sue. But keep it all REASONABLE, and don't do
anything such that any sane person wouldn't take YOUR side if it came down
to polling a jury.
Massive retaliation could get you in trouble. Gentle reasonableness
shouldn't, but only will get her in trouble if she decides to have a
problem with it.
