Yup.  Happened all the time in TOS, usually after Kirk confused the 
computer with illogical input.  Their computers must have been built by the 
same contractor that did the control panel on the _Seaview_ and forgot to 
put any fuses in the circuit to prevent it from exploding in sparks at the 
slightest provocation.
