Well, I pay double SS.  The deductions are not quite what they are touted to
be.  If you cheat, and claim half your house as an office, then maybe.  But,
the actual rules are quit strict.  I deduct the cost of my business, and I
may very well claim my office...I don't know if 1% use for other purposes
really disqualifies it...and I deduce business miles. I have talked to a tax
accountant and he basically reminded me just how strict the rules are.
