I was going to leap in with a story my uncle told me about having to develop
a new system of logic every day before breakfast - on which to base
geometrical axioms before constructing a spacetime so there'd be a place to
eat and for the rocks and hills to inhabit - but I thought things were
getting a little silly at that point.
On a related tangent*, while I was away on vacation for the last two weeks
(anyone notice?) I read "Flatterland" by Ian Stewart - yet another sequel to
Flatland. Anyone else tried it out?
Also polished off "The Bridge" by Ian Banks and "Look to Windward" by Ian M.
Banks. The former almost made me think I should try reading non-SF books
from time to time; the latter was weaker than his other Culture stuff;
methinks the book was intending to be an introduction to the Culture
universe.
However, regarding the bit of dialog in LtW that's ... well, to avoid
spoilers... mostly in italics: was that *intentionally* an homage to the
Culture mailing list, or just really incredibly damn funny and in the same
vein?

* Do I start the second paragraph of everything I post that way? If not,
it's a significant fraction.
