I think that you might find a lot to enjoy in the book, even given your
views. Brin certainly examines the ethical implications of the "dittos"
- including the formation of a ditto's rights organization. According to
Brin, the humans in the book find this organization very strange, because
they don't understand how this clay/plastic material with a lifespan of
only about one day, and made entirely of the memories of its "owner" can
possibly have "rights."
