Yes, that does seem very interesting. I wrote a similar (but much
cruder) program for AmigaOS when I wanted to generate the image at
http://www.mrao.cam.ac.uk/~rcdb100/adastra/arc/Archipelago.html
and ended up extending it to cover the solar system (and, in principle,
other star systems in the game too). There's a gallery of images at
