That's interesting. I hadn't heard the details on that one.
I don't know if there's a dominant end of the world meme at the moment.
Economic tyranny by the WTO and killer meteors are still hanging around.
Environmental disaster due to global warming, ozone depletion and so forth
also seems to be a popular one.
I think the next end of the world will be biotechnology. There are already
concerns about genetic engineering, growth hormones and human cloning. As the
science advances, fears of misuse (genetic supermen, nanoplagues, etc.) are
going to rise.
