I think that the security and infrastructure paid for with my tax dollars help provide greater freedom. For instance, if most roads were private, my freedom would be restricted by the fees I'd have to pay to drive on them. Further, since they require a profit to be viable, only the most well traveled routes would have good roads, further restricting my freedom. If we didn't provide tax for police would we be more or less free to do as we please? The idea that taxes restrict your freedom is exceedingly simplistic. Doug
