So, when the European Union grows, the US wants a piece of the pie. When
NATO can extend its influence in Europe, the US wants to be in on the deal.
In these cases, where the US can benefit from developments in Europe, the
US wants to be involved.
But when a war rages in Europe, suddenly it's "Europe's problem, not ours".
