The death of thousands of Americans in NYC and DC is one of the saddest
things to happen during my lifetime. Jeroen, I seriously doubt you
appreciate how much *I* grieve for them and their families, and I am only
one out of three hundred million Americans and uncountable millions
elsewhere who are feeling much the same way I do.
>From where I stand, it would be greviously immoral not to rebuild the damage
in NYC and DC, and build things better than they were before.
The example set by the passengers of the plane that crashed in Pa. where
these passengers fought terrorists in order that others might live,
sacrificing their lives to prevent a greater disaster, proves to me that
living monuments are better than dead monuments. We should move forward
strengthened by their memories rather than weakened by grief forever.
There is much work for us to do here.
Profit is the byproduct of work in this part of the world, but not usually
the sole reason work is done.
We want our buildings back.
New Yorkers want their skyline back.
Business needs the office space.
Growth demands they be replaced.
One might suspect that you would prefer some dead monument so that you might
point at it and say "Look,
there is where America was kicked in the teeth", or
"There lies the fruit of Americas villanny".
I honestly wonder at the depth of your hatred of America.
