By "mutilate" here I presume you mean "remove," as some classify deliberate scars, tattoos, and piercings as "mutilation." And what would your hypothetical virus do to the persons who did not remove that particular portion of their anatomy? Obviously it would have to spread from there to some other organ in order to do any serious harm, as the fact that so many people live without that particular piece of anatomy shows that it is not an organ that is essential to life. >Or it might be possible to devise melanin-eating virus, >or some other characteristic of one race.
