> OK, I am probably going to be flamed for this, but... This is something I do not understand. Why would people be furious with the Red Sox for failing to stand at attention for God Bless America? It is, after all, not your national anthem. Will there be repercussions for this? Something like the Red Sox being banned for the rest of the season, or players getting fired or suspensed or fined?
Jeroen > Actually you have the correct POV about the Red Sox. There is a little joke about NYC foreign cab drivers, one with six American flags on his cab drives past another with only four flags and shouts 'Get out you traitor!' The Red Sox did nothing wrong, but feelings are still raw [in case YOU haven't noticed ;-) ] so anything can be perceived as being un-American if you look hard enough. On the same hand, I think the Oriole fans will boo anything that's has to do with Boston or even New York. It's not as bad as when they played in Memorial Stadium, but the bad fans still linger. (This is from a Yankees fan). If the team was Tampa Bay or Toronto the reaction wouldn't have been noticeable. The Oriole Way my ass. Kevin T.
