I stand corrected, and completely agree with you in regards to Alderson.  I
actually think that hiring Alderson was one of the very few smart things Bud
Selig has ever done.  Cashman, I have been told, started in the Yankees
organization as a security guard.  Everyone makes fun of Steinbrenner a lot,
deservedly, but anyone who creates an organization that can spot raw talent
like that and take advantage of it deserves a lot of credit.
