So what does everyone think of the Yankees after this past series. I was convinced
Oaklnad would win after game two because I thought that Zito would cancel out Mesina
but the Yanks did it again as they have so many times in the past few years. As to the
discussions of great players; Jeter illustrated perfectly the limitations of overall
statistics in assessing a player's worth in the post season. He made two unbelievable
plays. One will surely go down in history. It will be called "THE RELAY". That play
had effects beyond statistical measure. It saved a run, killed the inning and gave his
team a lift and demoralized the A's (no matter what they say). The catch going into
the seats last night was just the icing on the cake. We will have to see what happens
in Seatle. I think the Yanks can take them but it will not be easy.
