I don't know who first proposed constructing that way, but it seems to be
a relatively rare and good style of conlanging - i only know of one
individual who set out specifically to define the words in their conlang
using *only* their conlang.  One of the benefits of this is that it cuts
the conlang off from the artist's native language and any other languages
they may know.  Another benefit is that it helps you learn your own
language, instead of having to translate in your head.
