Did this make sense to you: "If inflation had gone up by 40% in the same period of time, then this would be a _good_ thing, not a bad one"? To me, something that ridiculous is just perversity. I'm not surprised if my response was somewhat incoherent, since it was a response to such ridiculousness. The logical response to nonsense is to move on. Which I'll now do, perhaps a bit late. Nick Me: I guess you _will_ be a jerk, so I have to restate my point. If inflation had gone up 40% over that period of time, and the cost of living had gone up by 20%, well then, what do you think that would mean? That would suggest that in your county the cost of living in real dollars would have gone _down_, and that apparently is what you want. If you were less interested in scoring points and proving your own superiority and more interested in actual _discussions_, that would have been obvious to you. Gautam
